![]() I love the Bond IP, and it's really absurd that we haven't gotten a solid new entry in the series in ages. For 2002, this was a console FPS masterpiece! The controls don’t hold up terribly well 20 years later, but I’d still recommend it if you’re a Bond nut. These moments, which thankfully return in Everything or Nothing, are the most charming inclusions in the Bond game franchise.Īll in all, the weapons are good, campaign levels and multiplayer maps are well-designed and memorable (though the best multiplayer map doesn’t allow bots for some reason), the story’s characters are fun, and the multiplayer brings back nearly the entire rogues gallery from Bond’s past. These are optional moments when you do something specific that feels like it would happen in a movie, like shooting out the tires of a car that’s chasing you, finding a secret passageway, or using the grappling hook in your wristwatch to swing to a hard-to-reach spot. One of the best things in the campaign is the inclusion of “Bond Moves”. The very idea of having 100% weapon accuracy in a Bond game is ludicrous, but you’d better believe I made it happen. In Multi player, how many Maps are there. Much like Goldeneye, you would try to finish a level in a certain amount of time for a reward, but there were loads of other challenges you needed to nail for those sweet, sweet platinum medals. For 007: NightFire on the PlayStation 2, a GameFAQs Q&A question titled. It ended up being one of the games I put the most hours into as a teenager, not only due to great multiplayer in which you could load up to 12 bots for extra mayhem (we played SO MUCH Capture The Flag against all of the bots), but because the campaign had immense replay value. The early 2000s had quite a few attempts to live up to Goldeneye, and the one that came closest was definitely Nightfire. In addition to this, graphically most users have also positively commented on the fact that James Bond and Pierce Brosnan look and move so much alike.I wish we were still getting cool Bond games. Nightfire was positively received across all console platforms, with reviews toward the game pointing to the realistic animation. The PlayStation 2 version of Nightfire received a 'Platinum' sales award from the (ELSPA), indicating sales of at least 300,000 copies in the United Kingdom. It was the country's 93rd best-selling computer game during this period. Next time you're at your local retro shop, you should think about pulling the trigger on Nightfire. It's not revolutionary, nor is it without flaws, but the value that it brings to the table on a social level is substantial enough to outweigh any criticisms I might have. I can't speak to the quality of the single-player campaign since I didn't get around to refamiliarizing myself with it over the weekend, but I do think that it's worth investing in Nightfire for the multiplayer alone, especially when realizing that suggests complete copies sell for under $6. If you have a dusty ol’ Xbox (or even a 360) sitting around, a few controllers, and the room for a couple friends beside you on your couch, you should consider setting your crosshairs on this satisfying shooter. It was refreshing to play an offline shooter with the presence of non-human competition, and to have so many options available while doing so. My wife and I only meant to sign up for a few rounds with Bond and company, but we ended up sticking with Nightfire for a few hours. ![]() That means it's not too tough to avoid them on certain levels if you need to regroup and devise new tactics.
